Video Games :: Arcade

It all started over 30 years ago, when Pong became the first commercially successful video game to make a profit.  It was simple in design, and highly playable in its execution.  Nobody had seen this type of entertainment anywhere before - you could actually control the objects on the screen, it was science fiction, surely?  This was 1972 wasn't it?

This were the infant days for the video game - and the video games culture would still be confined to the home for some time yet.  It wouldn't be until the mid-late 70's that video games invaded our homes in any reasonable number, but it was definitely the defining decade for the arcade gaming industry.

We are still working on this section of the site, but we would welcome any help, particularly with Arcade Flyers from outside the United States.
